David Fords week of small & secret gigs in the north of England was a complete success, not just because of the packed rooms and the great performances from David, but also because it was all such fun. With people from as far afield as New York and Toronto attending the gigs, others making a holiday of following David around to every show and the wonderfully friendly vibe that was in each of the venues, we are going to remember the whole experience for a long time to come. Thanks to all of those who helped make the shows happen and to all of those who came down....legendary!

DAVID FORD - The 2nd ALBUM IS FINISHED

After 6 months in various recording bunkers David Ford has emerged with 9 fabulous songs that will comprise his second album. The album, which is called Songs For The Road, clearly reflects the past 18 months of Davids life; with the songs mostly being about travelling, being happy, being in America and sometimes feeling homesick.
The sound of the album ranges from an irresistably raw approach to songs like St Peter, And so you Fell and Requiem; to the gloriously lush and pop sound of Nobody Tells Me What To Do and Im Alright Now.
Most of the album has been produced by David Ford working with his co producer James Brown, though 4 of the songs were recorded with the successful production team of Kevin Bacon and Johnathon Quarmby.
Guest musicians on the album include the legendary Pedal Steel player BJ Cole, who has previously worked with The Verve and Elton John and Britains premier brass section The Kick Horns.
The album will be made available in the UK in summer of 2007
.....................
...........
.......
....
......
..........
................
.........................
..................................
..........................................
......................................
.................................
.............................
.........................
...................
..............
..........
......
.
.......
.........
........................
...........................
..................................
..................................................

David and his backing band, The Fire Pigs, in top top form; Fran Healy from Travis joined David Ford on Abba and Travis songs. 500 people went mad for Ford. 2 hours of musical joy. David performed songs by David Ford, Bright Eyes, Billy Joel, Augie March, Brandi Carsile, Madonna, Carole King etc etc...... Much money was raised to help young people who haven't had as much good fortune as most of us. And the night closed with the whole room singing David's 'Cheer Up' at full belt! What a great way to end a great year. Keep an eye on this web site, David's My Space page and other sharing sites to hear and see the highlights of this fantastic night.

V FESTIVAL - CANADA - ....A HURRICANE IN A NURSERY

Despite the weather and the leaking boats David did a great show.... have a look at this Canadian review...
http://www.tangiblesounds.com/vfestdayone.cfm
??.. we rushed to the main stage on the misassumption we?d catch a song or two by England?s David Ford, before heading back for more coffee. If only we had known. As he took to the stage with a bunch of delay pedals, an acoustic guitar and a piano, looking like Tom Waits and sounding like a hurricane in a nursery, we witnessed the greatest performance of the whole weekend (no mean feat, let me tell you). The one hundred and fifty of us who caught the show stood open mouthed as Ford sampled, howled, jumped, sat on the edge of the stage and drove his paeans through our hearts. From ?Cheer Up (You Miserable Fuck)? to ?State Of The Union,? I haven?t seen anyone hold an audience in such rapt silence for a long, long, LONG time. Its official: Tangible Sounds Loves David Ford.

'a whirlwind opus' is how Rolling Stone described David Ford's debut album. It went on to say how David 'easily shakes off' the all too easy comparisons to other contemporary British solo artists. It also claims that David has 'cooked up some sweet grooves' on his album!
USA 'HITS' magazine raves about Ford

David Ford, I Sincerely Apologise for the Trouble I?ve Caused (Independiente/Columbia):
Even before the Brits came into power at Columbia, this scruffy U.K. singer/songwriter/one-man band was being touted for big things as the most intriguing troubadour to come along since Damien Rice and Conor Oberst, but with even more of a feel for solid bursts of melodic rock. He?s kinda like Chris Martin meets Bob Dylan, with a little CSN-era Neil Young thrown in for good measure. It?s an arty affair, but never strays from accessibility, as exemplified in the home-made videos for the self-lacerating ?I Don?t Care What You Call Me? and the corrosive socio-political critique of ?State of the Union,? which wouldn?t be out of place on either Young?s own Living With War or Dylan?s Highway 61 and can be viewed at www.david-ford.com. On the black-and-white ?Union,? Ford plays each part in turn as they feed back on endless loops, a single take that ends with him walking out the door of his one-room studio into the bleached-out sunlight. Don?t know if this will translate to the Colonies, but it?s undeniably powerful, with expletives not deleted. ?RT

WORD Magazine give a thumbs up review

Word Magazine, December Issue out now

"..after the first songs have conducted us through the mire of his recent history of betrayal, hurt and the failure to come up to expectations, he takes us on a short diversion into track four, which is called 'Cheer Up (You Miserable Fuck)'. See, he's a card"

"..the great redeeming features are: his voice which is curiously easy to live with for an instrument that bites off his disappointment in such raw chunks, as he does on 'State Of The Union', an 'It's Alright Ma' for our times; the drums, which have the full, roomy, chugging sound of Neil Young's 'Harvest'; most crucially, his powers of observation. Randy Newman applauded Van Morrison's 'Brown Eyed Girl' on the grounds that the line "behind the stadium with you" could only have come from real life. You could say much the same about the line in Ford's "A Long Time Ago" about sitting on her wall and waiting for her parents to drive by. If you were the woman who'd triggered this outpouring you would truly be the toast of the powder room."

"..other than his guitar, piano and drums, instruments are deployed on a need-to-play basis, which is as it should be when it's the authenticity of that voice which is the point. Placing him will not be easy. There's one foot in David Gray's camp and the other in Kurt Cobain's. What's in between is a life that's been lived. His taste for Anglo-Saxon adjectives may keep him off Radio 2 and he's probably too musical for Radio 1, but from tracks one to nine his impressive record doesn't flag and deserves a wide hearing"

Thanks Word Magazine!

Getting the physical CD album stocked in the big High Street shops is always difficult for new artists, so remember you can also get it from Amazon (and the like), you can order it from your local indipendent music shop, (tell them to contact the Vital sales team) and you can download it from iTUNES and other on line music sites.

'I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused' - David Ford

on the Independiente label.

Sunday Times review... 'furious and polemical...intimate and passionate'

.............Who is he? The former front man of Eastbourne?s Easyworld, Ford has only benefited from stepping out on his own. Away from the sometimes overblown arrangements of the past, he is transformed by his self-produced and performed settings into an intimate and passionate solo artist. For his debut album, I Sincerely Apologise for All the Trouble I?ve Caused, Ford shut himself away in his cellar for some serious downtime with his problems, hopes, despair and longings; only his local football team, backing vocalists on one song, prevent it being an entirely one-man affair. The album will delight fans of David Gray, Mike Scott, Tom McRae and Ryan Adams. Its highlight, the furious, polemical State of the Union, is a tour de force of snarling agitpop............Sunday Times 2nd Oct 2005

New Website!

Welcome to David Ford's new web site, though of course it'll only be new to you if you knew old one.

Here you will find all sorts of David Ford news, info, music, pictures, videos, interesting message board conversations and the occasional special treat.

Please do register with us, it helps us know who we are talking to and in return you get to be the first in line for those treats that I've
just mentioned. Treats like the free lunch time "invitation" show at The Social in London on September 8th.

David's debut album 'I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused' will be released on Independiente on October 3rd, with his debut single 'State of the Union' appearing a week earlier on 26th September.

The 26th September will also see David Ford begin his first UK 'headlining' tour (see the Live page).

On the tour he will be supported and ably assisted by his buddies The Late Greats. For those of you who get to the gigs early enough to catch The Late Greats support slot, there's every chance that you will also witness an incognito David Ford displaying his remarkable drumming skills. Worth the price of a ticket on it's own I would have thought. And for the boys who've asked, yes, Miss Law will be doing her harmonious thing with David at all the dates.

So here we are then, after a year's effort and a leg up from Stage Three Music, Fierce Panda, Bigger Picture Media, The Agency, Clintons and most of all the team at Independiente, David Ford is embarking on apologising for all the trouble he's caused.
